Photo’s from the Great Flood of 2025 (So to speak)

In Connecticut over the past several days, it has rained a lot, which has resulted in our rivers flooding. I decided to take photos of the two rivers that are closest to me, the Farmington River and the Connecticut River. While the flooding may not have reached Noah’s Ark level’s or even the Great Flood of 1938, it was still spectacular to see and photograph. Enjoy the following photos:

Playing fields at Loomis Chafee. Normally all grass, this is the intersection of the Farmington and Connecticut Rivers. The rivers are normally at the trees in the distance and to the left of the photo.

The walking path by my apartment. The area underneath the bridge is supposed to be swamp and the Farmington River during a less flooded time is a little bit past the far end of the bridge.
I think the sign serves its purpose.
The Connecticut River at Riverside Park. As you can guess, the area in front is normally grass and walkways.
More Riverside Park. Note the playground in the distance.

I really like lamp post in this image.
Flooded ballfield. The Connecticut River’s banks are normally behind the trees in the distance.
More Apartment walkway. The Farmington River’s banks are usually a three minute walk from this point.
Woods being saturated by the swollen Farmington River.
Boat Ramp on the Farmington River. Usually, the ramp slopes down quite a bit before intersecting with the water.
Despite the cones, three cars drove on this road in the time I was there.

I am working on a regular blog post that is currently in the editing stages and will be published soon. It is an inspiring story about my bowling league.

    Wow. Great photos! Thanks for showing us all the flooding. I hadn’t realized things were so high.

    Great pics, Brandon! Wondering when this great flood was in CT. Besides losing our 20′ deep flood plain on the Ivy River that is 300 feet below our house, we survived flooding caused by Helene. Keep the posts coming – I have been really enjoying them! –Cuz Anne

    Nice photos! Didn’t know that Loomis-Chaffee is in the flood zone. Thanks for sharing the photos and your commentary.
